Which documents belong in your application and your travel bag?
Prepare two small checklists. The first helps you complete the online form accurately. The second helps you travel with the documents you may need to present. A successful file upload does not mean that every arrival requirement has been met.
The official portal lists a passport valid for at least six months from arrival, an eVisa printout, an itinerary and hotel or visit details among the arrival documents. Supporting letters may apply to particular visits. Consult the portal for your circumstances rather than treating this guide as a universal document list.
| Prepare for this form | Keep in your travel file |
|---|---|
| Physical travel passport and biodata-page image | The same physical passport |
| Names, passport number and relevant dates | Issued visa, with its conditions checked |
| An email address you can access | Copies of itinerary and accommodation records |
| Your intended travel dates | Application reference and payment receipt, stored separately |
How to make a passport image that remains readable
The biodata page is the page showing the portrait and personal information. On our form it appears first in the Passport section. Use a flat, well-lit surface and keep the page open without covering its edges or machine-readable lines with your fingers. A phone photograph can be practical if the result is sharp.
Inspect the saved file, rather than only the camera preview. Zoom in on the name, passport number and date fields. Glare over one digit is enough to make a useful-looking image difficult to read. Retake a blurred photo instead of trying to sharpen it until characters change.
- Keep the whole biodata page inside the frame.
- Check the portrait, text and bottom machine-readable lines for glare or shadows.
- Use JPG or PNG and stay within this website's 500 KB limit.
- After compressing, open the final file again and confirm the text is still legible.
- Upload the passport page itself, without decorative borders or unrelated documents.
Copy the passport details, not a booking website's spelling
A booking confirmation may shorten a long name or omit a middle name. Keep the passport open while completing the personal-details section, and use its labelled fields as your reference. Do not let browser autofill silently substitute details from an earlier traveller.
Imagine a couple sharing a laptop: the second applicant uploads their own passport but autofill inserts the first person's date of birth. Each individual item looks plausible, yet the combination belongs to nobody. Review the record as one person's complete identity before moving on.
For dual nationality, choose the nationality of the passport intended for this trip. If you renew or replace that passport after applying, ask for guidance before assuming that a visa linked to the earlier document will cover the replacement. An old approval is not a substitute for checking the new situation.
- Compare given names and surname against the labelled passport fields.
- Check passport characters carefully, especially similar-looking letters and numbers.
- Read dates with their field labels; date of issue and date of expiry are different.
- Check the email address for a typo before relying on it for application updates.
If the passport file will not upload
First check the actual file type and size. Renaming a PDF to end in .jpg does not turn it into a JPEG image. Export an image in a supported format, reduce its size if necessary, and then verify that the smaller file remains readable.
If the form returns a validation error after submission, read the message and check whether the passport file must be selected again. Browsers do not normally refill file selectors after a page reload. Keep the original image in an easy-to-find local folder so you can reselect it without taking another photograph.
Do not send a passport image to an unfamiliar address merely because a search result promises faster processing. Use the upload field in the application you have chosen, and consult that service's privacy information before sharing personal documents.
A five-minute review before you submit
Complete the review in a different order from the form. Start with the uploaded image, then read the passport number aloud, compare the dates, and finish with names and contact details. Changing the order can help you notice a mistake that became familiar while typing.
For a family trip, keep separate, clearly labelled files for each traveller. An adult's readable image does not resolve a child's document issue. Check each person's passport and entry route separately rather than assuming the group's requirements are identical.
- The uploaded image and the passport details belong to the same traveller.
- The intended arrival date matches the trip you are planning.
- The selected entry type matches the number of entries into Egypt.
- The price summary shows the option you intended to buy.
- You understand that payment confirmation is different from visa approval.
Move from a checklist to a complete application
If the image is readable and your travel passport is settled, choose your nationality and start the application. If you are still waiting for a replacement passport, resolve that issue first. Entering details from a document you expect to replace creates avoidable uncertainty.
Use the nationality guides below for the next check. This document guide explains preparation; the country guide addresses the passport-specific route. Together they help you submit a coherent application rather than simply completing every visible box.
Frequently asked questions
Which passport page should I upload for an Egypt eVisa?
Upload the biodata page showing the portrait and personal details. On this website it is the first upload in the Passport section; use a readable JPG or PNG no larger than 500 KB.
Can I upload a phone photograph of my passport?
A phone photograph can be used on this website when it meets the JPG or PNG size limit and the full biodata page is clear. Inspect the saved file for glare, blur and missing edges before uploading.
Do I need to upload every document I carry to Egypt?
Online upload requirements and arrival documents are different. Follow the fields in your application, then separately check the official entry requirements and assemble your travel file.
Why is the passport upload empty after a form error?
Browsers usually do not restore a selected file after a page reload. Correct the reported issue and select the passport image again if the form requests it.
